March 5, 2006I found this trailer for sale in the local tradinpost classifieds, so I called the guy about it, and went to look at it today. It's a hell of a trailer, really more than I'd need for the Ranger, but it'd be nice for other equipment.
It looks to have hydraulic brakes on it, but the rubber line has been cut and I see no lines run on the frame of the trailer, so I'm assuming no brakes (YIKES) I'd probably want to upgrade to electric, depending on cost. Its got a 6pole-round connector, I have a 7 way RV type plug. The wiring is run in like conduit, and looks to have been very nicely done, someone took their time setting it up. It's got some type of removable hitch, I've never seen one like that, but he says he keeps it inside as a theft deterrent.
The floor is wood, but there are braces every 18" and its in decent shape, none are broken and its really not rotten by any means. The ramps on the back I havent figured out, but they are anything but weak, I couldn't carry them alone if I tried. He's asking $1100 for it, which is one of the main reasons i considered a gooseneck, like I said, I'm set up for and already use my regular reese hitch, with brakes, so I was looking for that type of trailer, but the gooseneck would probably tow very nicely.
So, now I'd like to hear some opinions, I know a few of you guys have heavy trailers or at least have experience with them, lets hear what you think about this:
