Thanks for the replies. Rather then spend more money, I think I'll take abig84 advice. Pullem and charge em once a month or so.
My main concern was in the '87. I kept draining the battery and couldn't figure out why. Figured I'd get a trickle charge for at night. While giving it a tune I decided to pull the alternator and have it tested out of the vehicle. It tested fine in the vehicle, figured I'd give it a shot the other way, couldn't hurt. It tested out fine, again. However while putting it back in I noticed the wire running from the alternator to the battery was pretty flexible. Pulled on it and the splice covered by electrical tape fell apart. Fab'd up a new wire and it fixed my charging problem. Amazing how something so simple could be such a pain in the butt. Also leaves one of those questions that will never be answered. Why in the heck did the previous owner splice the wire in the first place?
