September 22, 2004A week before this pic was taken I decided to try out my new tires so at 2am I said ROAD TRIP and drove about 45 minutes outta town to Knik River to do some muddin. Well, I got into this hole and sank BAD. The mud there creates a suction and when yer stuck, yer really stuck. Anyhow I got the whole truck in to the water which was about 3 inches deep, and I just sank. I had to climg out the windows cuz I couldnt open my doors, yeh..the mud was about 4 inches up the rocker panel. So after 2 tow straps, a hitch and 8 hours later I was out. I broke my hitch in 3 places and sheared all but 2 bolts off. Also bent the pintle hook on my buddies 1ton dodge
September 22, 2004Well I have done the same at about 1in the morning after drinking all nite .Dont worry we were already in the woods camping !!!!! So the only one we could hurt was ourselves we went out in to this field it was along some power lines and under water well I thought I was still on the trail well ends up I veered of and into the grass /Mud well treuck sank all the way up to the nerf bars on the black truck in my gallery photo well about 4 hrs later when the sun was coming up we got her out it was sunday so we played all day again with no problems
September 22, 2004my worst stuck i dont have a picture of, basicly its a long story but ill make it short, i towed my s10 out to a place to go wheeling, a stock k5 and a ram on 33inch boggers came along, i went through a area one more time before we left (you know how that goes) well i got stuck, the ram was behind me and tried to push me out, he dug down and got stuck on my bumper, the k5 couldnt get moving more then 1mph in that mess to pull either one of us out, so i took my towing truck home to get my k5 on 38s, on the way back to the place, i got caught by a train for 3 hours. went back there tried to pull the ram out, couldnt budge him, then i overheat in the k5. after 10 minutes of letting it sit, i go around from the other side, pull the s10 out no problem, pull the ram out next and hook the trailor on my k5 and take the s10 home.
another funny thing of the story is i had a blind date at 9pm. didnt get home till after 12, i had a good story to tell her though.
heres one of the deeper stucks pictures i have of my first truck (this was the k5 i got to pull out the s10 and ram with)
and this is like the worst stuck ive seen in person. a friend of mine tried staying out of the ruts and fell into the hole next to him. took a suburban with 40inch boggers, lockers, and like 20 pulls to get him out.
September 22, 2004A friend came to the hang out in town one night, said he's stuck and needed someone to pull him out. I had a stock Scout II at the time with a set of wide street tires, told him I knew where he was and no way I could help but he swore there was an easy route in. Well, I was hung up on a rut just short of the street, wallowed out by 44's, like I knew I would. We walked back to see about getting him out, yeah right, the IFS skid plate was resting on a dirt bank wheels dangling in water holes. The open rear axle had the drive wheel (passenger side) in a hole of water 6" from solid ground, the free side was on solid ground. Digging and stuffing for an hour or two, we got on the CB, turned out a guy near by goes there all the time, and said he was on his way. He had a 76 Chevy 1 ton on 40" swampers, 454, granny gear manual, 205 transfer case, tubular bumpers with front mounted winch, wrapped with chains. A quick snatch and the truck was free, made it look too easy, but my friend hooked up mine wrong, I hadn't noticed he wrapped the shackle bar with the front frame cross bar. I was out quick, but pulled the shackle bar, moving the axle forward, ripping the rear leaf spring mount from the frame. I had to catch a ride home with him, he dropped me off and left, thank god I had a friend with me that stayed to help. We called family members trying to hunt down a trailer to hurry and get the Scout home before the police spot it, sitting by the road in an illegal off road spot. Took 3 hours to get a trailer, we got back out there at 3am, needed to put the axle back before we could move it, no way to get the truck and trailer in there to get it, they remain on the shoulder. I had to crawl around in the mud, using a power puller to pull the front axle back, using a bracket on the frame as a pull point. By 6am, the Scout is loaded up and we were leaving, thank god no one saw. I made it home and in bed at 8am, couldn't hold my eyes open for another second. The guy had promised his dad would weld it back, I just needed to come by in the afternoon, giving me a few hours for a nap before I needed to get up and head to his house. His dad was pissed when I pulled in the drive, told me that it wasn't his business to repair any vehicles and it was my fault. His son owned Scouts, he built one in high school, yet forgot not to put a chain on the shackle bracket, get real. I was left out on a limb to repair my vehicle, it had ripped the frame where the spring hanger came off, boxed frame, a strip of steel from the lower section was still on the hanger, they are welded on the frame from the factory. I did happen to fix that where it would never happen again during my repair, the thin steel hanger was not only thicker, but braced and bolted.
End result, if you know you can't make it, tell them too bad, never allow anyone to hook up your ride for extraction, and your friends will screw you so they stay out of trouble.
September 23, 2004thats why I say always take a buddy w/ you when wheeling
September 26, 2004More rain on the way looks like more mudding to come
September 27, 2004heres one i wont forget.....i just got off work and it was 10:30. they were starting to build a new high school about 5 min from my house. so i decide to go and burn donuts on the baseball field at 11:00 at night. so i do my thing, and i notice that theres an entrance to a trail at the other end of the field. so i explore and it dead ends, so i turn around and as im heading the other way, it starts to rain. it just rained not too long before that, so the ground was already muddy. well coming out of the trail, i come around this little corner and my whole front end sinks in the ground. so i try and try to get out and nothing happens. so im walking in the rain(raining hard as hell) and i go to this church on my road. theres a guy sitting in his car and i asked him if he knew anybody who could pull me out. as a matter of fact he did. he calls out this guy who owns a land rover, and luckily hes got a winch. so we go over there and they pull me out and i try to leave and get stuck again. this happens three times till finally the winch rope breaks. i have a canip****, they drive me home. so i wait till the next morning, go back, and ask the construction crew if they could pull me out. after a little bashing from them, they grab a back hoe, and pull me out. luckily though, they hadnt called the cops and reported it abandoned. the one thing im still pissed about was i had a camera in the truck the whole time and didnt even take one picture.
September 27, 2004My worst stuck happen just last week. After trail riding all day, my friends drove in from outta town and we couldnt think of anything to do and I came up with the idea of mudding. So we drove to this pond and I have my jeep loaded down with people, not a good idea at all, and I stop in front of this bogger hole thats part of the pond, and I line up for and I ask everybody if I should do it, they say no of course and that I'll get stuck, so to prove them wrong, I did it..and got stuck...past my bumber to my headlights, I just nose dived into it. It was the first time ever for me getting stuck and having to be towed out, but it was sweet.
October 2, 2004i would have to say my worst stuck was in my 2001 f150 2wd. i was doing a little mudding in a new housing development down the street from a gf's house. it had rained for about 2 days straight and as i was turning around in the mud i sank to my frame. a buddy in another 2wd tryed to push me out with his bumper and only stuck me worse. after about 30 mins of rocking the truck i decided to call a tow truck. after a quick pull (only lasted about 30 seconds) and 60 dollors i decided that wheeling with a 4x4 there was a must..
the second worse was about a week after buying my 2000 f150 4x4. it finally rained so i decided to take her out for the inagural run.. about 3 mins into it and i found a nice deep hole with my rear axel. high centered and in mud up to the bumper i was stuck..
