May 17, 2004Did that to my Jeep, paper elements were clogged beyond use pretty much on a daily basis.
Try to find a sock to put over it.
May 18, 2004they make prefilters that are waterproff they basically look like a hair net that stretch over your air breather and keep dirt and water out. i think i was buying them for 12.00 when i was rqacing last year. if i find the real name ill let you now
May 18, 2004That's what I was talking about, some call it a sock. people use the sock, because the K&N is poor at stopping fine dust, it get's through them alone.
May 18, 2004They are called OUTERWEARS.I don't know how k&n won't stop dust if it's oiled right.and they use nylons not socks..
May 18, 2004The quad owners found dust in the intake on the carb side of the K&N, proving the oiled filter lets some through. They called it a sock, but it's Outerwear, the post helped me remember it. I do believe the Outerwear over your K&N will have you running clean, but performance will fall as it gets dirty, pretty much the same as paper, except you can clean these.
May 18, 2004yeah, those socks are kewl, but you gotta end up cleaning them more often... I have a K&N dropin filter, without a sock
