July 25, 2004Does anyone recommend trying to catch air in their truck? or even mine? I have a Tacoma with a Fabtech Pro 3.5" Lift. I used to catch air in my F-150 stock! but that was just rushing big dips on the street...never off road. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks

July 26, 2004My brother used to pre run his toy out there. Said he got plenty of air and used to beat on his truck. We have never really discussed his pre-run adventures in depth, so that is about all I know.
I can tell you this, I know him well, and know how he treats his gear. Do you want to keep it, take it easy. He didn't care about his truck, he bought it just for airing it out. His DD was a 56 Chevy at the time. I am not sure what ever happened to the truck when he moved back to this area. I think he sold it, rather what was left of it. Knowing him, he sold it for more then he paid for it to begin with.
July 30, 2004I wouldn't reccommend doing it with a Fabtech lift. They're way to STIFF and have no travel.
July 30, 2004How DEEP is your pocket book go ahead make sure you get pictures though
July 30, 2004Yeah, post pics of the carnage. jumping is NOT good unless you have the macdaddy of suspension travel and preload on your springs.
July 30, 2004Your Toy frame will rip at the front suspension tabs, where they hook to the frame. Manufactured trucks aren't meant to jump, bend/crack frame, or tear suspension components from the frame. Doors, hood and tailgate won't shut properly, body parts don't line up properly, time to trade it in. Most prerunner off road trucks are designed after the Ford twin I beams, they allow for the longest travel and have the strongest connection to the frame. Trucks built to jump have a frame mounted roll cage from front to rear, to carry the load of a jump throughout.
July 31, 2004how high are you talking about we have a few air devil in our chapter if you want i can sent you some videos just email me
August 1, 2004i do it all the time in a stock 1990 2wd ranger, i just recently jumped a 1995 dodge carvan, i think that it is fun, just take it easy at first and if you start breaking expensive stuff then you gotta stop......
August 1, 2004BS 78 mudder, yeah and my 94 dakota jumped a jumbo jet, but on trucks on Spike Tv they showed either a 5 or 6 inch lift for the ranger, a pre runner lift, you might wanna take a look at that.
August 2, 2004Bub, you have no idea what he has or has not done with that ranger, so if I were you id shut your mouth. If he's said hes done it, than what reason do you have to doubt him? why would he lie? I know him, and I dont doubt him at all.
By the way, my truck's been airborn a few times, the most was 2' up. Jesse, did you see it? At BF last year, dan said I got like 2' of air, I dunno if he ment just the fronts, or the whole truck. All I cuz of it are new ball joints. But that was over a year ago, and theyre still in there, so it couldnt have been too bad.
August 6, 2004i could be wrong, but i dont think he meant he actually jumped over the minivan. i think hes saying he jumped in the minivan.
August 6, 2004the last time I got serious air.. the pic came out just as I was landing and my suspension was all compressed.. broke the exhaust.. and the landing was rough.. I dont think I'll be doing much jumpin again, any time soon.. to easy to break stuff I think, unless you land and roll with it with like all four points compressing at once..
